After having no problems for a couple of months uploading songs, suddenly every time I try, it fails. It just goes right to the log-on page. Richard Hefner thinks it may be because I'm using a Mac. I usually use Safari but I also tried Netscape on my computer and it failed then too. Anyone have any ideas what to do, or do I have to find a PC to upload songs?

I haven't had a problem using Safari normally, but there are times when I've turned to FireFox to upload songs. That one works every time.

Did you recently upload the newest version of Safari? That might be part of the problem. I haven't tried to upload anything with that as of yet.

Good luck -

Thanks for the suggestion. I did download an updated version of Safari about the same time as the problems began. But I just tried using Firefox and the uploads to ezfolk failed with Firefox too. (I upload to other music sites with no problem.)

I'd check your security settings.

I've been uploading on my iMac on a monthly basis since last year. I use Firefox exclusively, with no problems.

Last uploads were Saturday and Sunday.

I did hear that Safari (at least the lastest updates) is acting in an unstable way.

I just uploaded the last Safari update (came out a few days ago) and still no luck. I don't see anything in the security settings that would affect this. But it doesn't work on Firefox either. (Or Netscape, which I kept on my computer.) Guess I have to bring my mp3's to a PC and try it there. And if that doesn't work either, then it must be my page, but I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.
Thanks for replying.

Ken-

Any luck? A couple of thoughts, so just put up with me if they seem a little basic, I'm not trying to belittle anybody.

Are the tunes actually mp3?

Are the tunes, maybe, too large for the site?

Are you trying to do something else while they are uploading?

Are you signed in as the administrator of your ezFolk site?

Just a few basic things that might be overlooked sometimes - just trying to be helpful.

Brad

Brad -

Nope, no luck yet (on my Mac). Your questions are good because sometimes one overlooks the basics. But yes, they are standard mp3's (160 KB or 192KB), encoded using Logic Express or iTunes. I did consider -- maybe I'm clicking on the lo-fi option, maybe they are AIFF files, but no, I'm following the guidelines. I'm not trying to do anything else, and I'm signed in. Meanwhile I'm able to upload to other sites with no problem (download.com, podsafe music network, myspace). And I was uploading to ezfolk until a month ago with no problems too. Do you think that there's something might have gotten corrupted with my ezfolk page (in which case it will never work anywhere)? Or do you think it might be the server connection between my computer and ezfolk -- that if I did it from a different location, it might work then? I doubt that the problem is that it's a Mac vs. a PC. I can't imagine what that could be. The internet is the internet. It was plausible that the problem was Safari, but it doesn't work on Firefox either.

Thanks for trying!

I wonder, would it be worth rebuilding your site from the control panel (or changing the theme)? Perhaps Richard might be able to say what rebuilding does; it seems to have cured a few minor problems for me a couple of times.

It wouldn't hurt to at least try both of those (rebuilding and selecting another theme) to see if it helps.

At times I've also seen pages get corrupted by adding odd stuff like slashes </> in MP3 names or HTML the system can't handle. Usually just removing that and rebuilding the page fixes that up.

I kind of doubt that any of that affects the uploading of MP3s though.

Sounded like a great idea, so I rebuilt the page (it said it successfully rebuilt it, whatever that means), but my upload attempts on Firefox and Safari still failed.
Then I tried changing the theme -- still didn't work. I changed the theme back to the original, and it still didn't work.

Richard's reply below suggested maybe there's something in the name of the mp3 that's a problem. But the mp3's names have no slash or anything like that. (I've tried several mp3's, to eliminate the possibility of a problem in the file). I use HTML in my artist biography, but standard stuff (paragraphs and bold format).

Thanks for all your suggestions.
