I have removed the 100 MB limitation on uploads so everybody can post as many songs as they want to without worrying about an upper limit. The more the merrier. We might have to make some adjustments of some type along the way and knock out a wall or two, but I appreciate all of the uploads and would rather see a million than a hundred. We'll work the kinks out as we go.

Right now we've got an 80 GB hard drive and 1000 GB of bandwidth available per month and we're barely making a dent in that. We'll add more as appropriate and I think it can sustain itself as a completely free website for users and artists.

Keep in mind it's not free for me though. I'm not planning on making a fortune but I would like to break even one of these days so if you see a Google link on ezFolk that interests you give it a click and you'll be helping. Also sales from the ezFolk Media Store, which is an Amazon associate store, support the website, so instead of going directly to Amazon to buy something if you'll buy it through ezFolk you'll be supporting the cause.

Thanks!

Richard  :hat:

This is great! Is it possible as an artist to sign up for more than one site, if Iwant to highlight one type of music?

TIA /Gerry Tenney

Gerry... I did some copying and pasting on this since it kind of overlaps the question you had about different categories. That might solve the problem of wanting to list songs in different categories. It'll be fine for you to do it if you want to. It might be best and less confusing if you use a naming convention that is similar such as...

Gerry Tenney--Bluegrass
Gerry Tenney--Klezmer
Gerry Tenney--Mandolin
Gerry Tenney--Bluegrass Banjo

That would be a way to get things in different categories and would be fine. It would be a little extra work for you maybe and if you added the same song in different genres it would dilute the rankings for the song since each instance would be counted separately. You also would have to keep up with multiple usernames and passwords but that shouldn't be too big of a deal.

Give it a try and see what happens.

I don't want to be the voice of...whatever...but I'm trying to not see Richard's generosity as a chance to create multiple artist blanks for myself. The unlimited space is more than kind enough for any of us, in my view.

I know I am in no position to speak for Richard, but I think maybe we should agree as a community to not overstep the current format, and not do what is (unfortunately) natural with musical artists--shameless self-promotion. We have an excellent opportunity here, and an excellent gift from our webmaster; let's not screw it up with a spirit of selfishness.

Just a midnight thought.

Really it's no imposition at all to me. It might be more work for any artists who want to do different pages but if anybody wants to try it it's fine by me. Gerry really has a wide range of music and I'm happy for him to post it on here any way he sees fit. Whatever works!
