I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with the Rover RB 110 Open Back banjo? Are the Saga's worth looking at as a beginner banjo? Any and all opinions will bhe helpful.

Jeff

Saga, who makes Rover banjos, is the same company that makes Blueridge guitars and Kentucky mandolins, two other brands known for good playability and good value for the buck.  The Rover should be a decent beginner's instrument.

I have played a Rover open back and thought it was a pretty nice banjo for the price. :)

Thanks Gary and Will. I was also wondering if there are any other brands and models I should look at? I know about the GoodTime and the Cripple Creek 100. My budget just took a hit to day so may need to reevaluate brands and price. I have also been looking at the Banjohut Mastercraft Player Deluxe Banjo Any other ideas?

Jeff

Banjo Hut, a dealer in Tennessee, sells a line of Chinese-made banjos called Mastercraft.  I've ordered from them, and they are excellent instruments for the price:

Will thanks alot. I think I may go with the Banjohut Mastercraft Player Deluxe Banjo. It's only a 3 hour drive plus the chance to see some friends in Knoxville. Sounds like a road trip to me.
