I've got a lovely old English-made Banjo uke, and I want to upgrade the bridge (which is obviously not original). I'd like an ebony-tipped maple bridge and see lots for 4 strings on Eldery and ebay, but judging from the heights, I assume these are not for banjo ukes. My current bridge is just 7/16" (11mm) and the action is a bit high already. The lowest banjo bridge I can find is 1/2". I think 1/16th is too much to file down. I also think the string spacing would likely be too narrow.
Also, I'd like to try a three-legged bridge style but am unsure how this might affect the tone. My sense is that it might be an improvement over the 2-legged one I have now.
I normally reside in the uke forum and this is my first post in the banjo forum. I would appreiate any advice on this. Thanks!
