hi everyone, im dan and this is my first post here.  ive been wanting a banjo for about a few years now so i decided to sell my marshall half stack and get a banjo.  i was looking at a morgan monroe cascade.  i was wondering if anyone here had experiece with these or if they could recomed some others in the 500-700 dollar price range.  i want to play bluegrass and im looking at getting a 5 string resonator.

thanks!

Check out Banjo Hut.  They carry Morgan Monroe, Recording King, Goldstar, and their own line of Mastercraft banjos.  I've ordered from them before.

Dan:

Keep in mind that Banjo Hut has an actual physical store in Tennessee and they set up all of the banjos that they sell, which to me is well worth the small extra cost over an eBay dealer who may charge a bit less.  Good luck in your search.

so i have decided not to buy a banjo online.  i feel the need to hold them and hear the sound and how it feels in my hands.  a few people have enlightened me on some good shops in denver and boulder so soon i will check them out and play around with some good banjos till i find the one.

From what I've been able to find, Cort, the giant Korean guitar maker who makes Asian import line guitars for most of the major brands, also makes a line of "Kansas" banjos selling at low to moderate prices:

The Morgan Monroe banjos that have been coming through our office have all been pretty nice.

I did a workshop on banjo setup a few weeks ago using a MM Cameron banjo:

Hello.
I'm a relativly new banjo player myself.  I have a deering goodtime. there are several different variations of it in the range of 400 to 700. Made in America, great set up. buying online from http://www.banjo.com is good. that's where i purchased mine.  It's a good banjo that can last you a couple years before the urge to upgrade.  Morgan Monroe are nice looking  banjos but are forign made.  I suggest american made.
