Well, I got the new banjo yesterday. Deering Good Time banjo, I dont think I could be happier with it. Im using the standard G tuning (G D G B D) and I think that should be able to barre the strings straight across the neck in order to get some simple chords, but I dont exactly know the progression of the chords - All strings open makes a G- then barring the first fret makes an A, second makes an A# etc. Am I on the right track here? It almost sounds too simple.

Almost! The open strings are a G chord The 1st fret would be a G# (G sharp) 2nd an A 3rd A# 4th B 5th C 6th C# 7th D 8th D# 9th E 10th F 11th F# 12th G You have to watch out for the 5th string, it will not fit in all chords. I'd do more but I gotta run. Maybe somebody else can add before I get back. (Learn to read music, and some theory along with learning to play!) Brad
