This is the lead-in to a great article in the Philadelphia Inquire:

"Tiptoeing no more

A revival of the sweet-sounding ukulele is stimulating Philadelphia's music scene, with classical, jazz and even rock sounds.

By Carolyn Davis

Inquirer Staff Writer

What do Arthur Godfrey, Tiny Tim and Will Brown have in common?

If you're of a certain age, you can guess what it is. If you're 13-year-old Will Brown, your face takes on a just-sucked-lemons expression when Tim - may he and "Tiptoe Through the Tulips" rest in peace - is mentioned...."

Nice article... thanks for sharing.

I think the modern uke movement is alive and well and will be for a long time.

I'm one of those people who actually liked Tiny Tim. He wasn't terribly talented although he was a real expert on the old music from the early 1900s. He was nuts, of course, but very entertaining, and if it wasn't for him even fewer people would even be aware that the ukulele exists since he was about the only really popular entertainer who played it during the 1960s decade (except for Hawaiians).

Also very sweet. Also admirable because he didn't let his fall from the heights mess with his innate sweetness. He just plugged along, being himself, and "died in the saddle" as it were. Something I hope to be able to achieve.

I liked Tiny Tim, too. In fact, I still do. He  was wildly eccentric but very entertaining. Most people only know him for his one piece, but he had a range of songs and did some beautiful arranegments of vintage tunes that are worth hearing.

And better yet, he had the ability to laugh at himself. See this video:
