I bought a Zerone mahogany baritone about a year ago and think it's a fine instrument. Well constructed and well worth the money. I repair and restore string instruments and have a lot to compare. I've read this brand slammed in anther uke forum but can't understand why. But when a certain well-known seller in Hawaii (from whom I've also bought ukes I'm happy with) slams Chinese ukes in that thread, one has to appreciate that he's a competitor who sells Chinese as well as Hawaiian ukes. I've sold some Chinese ukes myself. There are some fine instruments coming out of China nowadays. There's some crap too, but Zerone ukes don't belong to that category. I'll be ordering a Zerone soprano today.
edit: the Hawaiian seller makes a valid point. It's easy to get any name put on a uke from China. But it's always been the same with instruments long before they were made in Asia. This fact alone isn't of much help as it says nothing about the quality. Judging from the quality of the Zerone baritone, I expect they'll be sending me a fine soprano.
