I'm shopping around for a banjo uke and have read through many threads with helpful info. Yet, I'm still unsure which brand offers the best best build quality in the $400-$500 price range. I don't need a resonator but would like to have the option of adding one in the future. I like the look of the Grafton over the Goldtone (the headstock for one thing) but I won't base a purchase on this alone. I want good intonation and tone. Are Goldtones still made in the US or in China? Also, banjoukes without resonators seem to weigh around 4lbs. However, a Waverley Street only weighs 25 ounces. Perhaps I should ask Dave himself how his so light (are you here Dave?) Looks like great value with a pretty good tone, not too loud as well, which would suit most home-players. I'm not sure how durable an instrument it is. I want this for Formby-musichall style strumming, but I'll certainly be open to other things as I progress. All responses are appreciated.

Goldtones are made in Korea (I believe)and assembled/setup in the USA.

I've only seen 2 brands of banjo ukes firsthand, Goldtone, and just this weekend at the Windy City Ukulele Festival, a Tyler Mountain. (I also got to meet Music Guy Mike in person; he played his bassolele on stage as part of a band.) The Tyler Mountain had steel strings on it, and sold at the festival for $275. A friend of mine has the resonator back model of the Goldtone banjo uke. I did not get a chance to play either instrument for more than a few seconds.
