I thought I'd start a new thread for a new ukulele....  I just got a new Tangi solid koa soprano on ebay auction for $180 (usual price $220) from musicguymic.   I've been researching so many instruments in a lower price range and never even considered a koa uke and so made a "leap of faith" (ie impulsive) decision when I started bidding at the last minute.  Anyway, $180 was the reserve bid so I guess I didn't overpay.  But now I ask myself "Will I like the Tangi?"

Some negative comments I've read after the purchase like ,"The neck is too fat" is giving me the shivers as it's $60 more than I had intended to spend (my earlier choice was the Lanikai sprucetop concert).  I know it's a lot to ask for comments after the fact as forum members may be too kind to say what you really think.  But can anyone venture an opinion on my purchase?  It's my 2nd uke.  My first is the Applause UAE20.  All comments are sincerely welcomed!

I'll answer my own question now that the Tangi has arrived.  It's simply beautiful.   The intonation seems good and the sound is clear, bright and warm.   I think I've adopted a wonderful instrument, thanks to MGM.   Very pleased.

I'll attempt a more careful review later.

No complaints with this uke.  It does look unique in it's shape which is sort of like a very little dreadnought (sp?), but my wife thinks it's cute and she's appropriated it.  Would I buy another were I to lose it (I mean, were she to lose it)?   Ah, I'd say yes.   Koa is a fine tonewood, and I think the intonation and feel is spot on.  Well done Mr. Tangi. :)
