In my never ending search for the perfect uke, my attention has been brought to the Brueko slim sopranos. From what I can tell, the quality is great and there's no loss in sound or tone with the slim design. Only one problem: I live in the US. Does anyone know about an easy way to acquire one of theses intriguing ukes here in the states?

Hi oddjob, don't Brueko ship to the US? Their new website is far better than the old one, and if you correspond via email you should be able to do so in english. They're really nice people. Drop them an email and find out. I know some thread mentioned a Brueko sold on a US website, but that was a standard model. I can recommend the slim ones, I have an all mahogany soprano with arched back. Its sound has really developed during the year since I got it, I really like it. And there is a big difference in portability, once you get used to the lesser depth. The only drawback I noticed is my kids think it's theirs, but a father should be glad to observe the first stages of UAS at such a tender age. http://argapa.blogspot.com/2007/10/uke-at-eight-o.html Good luck / Sven

I own an octave guitar made by Brueko, sold through Lark In The Morning. It has a body the size of a concert uke, but has 6 thin steel strings, and it's tuned one octave higher than a guitar, EADGBE. http://www.ezfolk.com/forums/forum16/2813.html ![]()

Do any of the slim ukes not have and arched back? I'm thinking specifically of the slim black model. I can't read the long german description so I can't really tell. Do you think that the sound woul be sub-par without an arched back? Last edited on Tue Feb 5th, 2008 06:06 pm by oddjobzombie |

OK, I found out that the black model has a flat back from the retailers http://www.theukuleleshop.co.uk that the black model has a flat back. The question remains: Does the flat backed thin body not produce enough sound (the arched back being necessary for volume)?

Hi oddjob. Yes, I have played a slim, flat-backed Brueko ukulele. It did have a good volume. But I would recommend that you aim for a model with arched back, simply because they're much nicer. I tried the flat one way before I got my arched, so I didn't make a direct comparision. The flat back might be of slightly thinner wood than the arched, but the arched is beatiful, and interesting to show to other ppl. Good luck, now get out your Visa and start spending! sVenoM
