Some of you may have seen this over at the UMGF, but I thought I'd show it off here as well...

The Ebay description was right on... There are no visible cracks, and the finish is really nice, some crazing, but it has a nice lustre. It needed a little cleaning so I used some light guitar polish meant for nitro finishes, and it cleaned it right up. I gave the fretboard a bit of cleaning with some clarinet bore-oil (I use this on my fretless ebony necks). It still has some vintage "patina" but most of the nasty grunge is off and it feels spectacular!

Sounds fantastic with the nylguts too! I am going to take it in and have the blemish on the lower right bout looked at, it doesn't look like anything more than a surface scratch but I want to make sure. I might have the finish spot mended there as well because there are some finish cracks emanating from that area and I want to nip that in the bud. I do need a case though.

The flash makes it look brighter than it really is, but it is actually fairly dark and a bit more red than brown. The soundhole pic is pretty close.

Cheers,
Chris

It is soooo sweeeeet!  What's UMGF (uncle martin's guitar forum)?  I just got a Martin baritone and if you'd send me the little one, they could be together as big and little brother for the rest of their lives.  You know, one big happy family, esp. me.  Congratulations! :D

the Unofficial Martin Guitar Forum. http://www.umgf.com/

Lots of good stuff on ukuleles in the four-string farmhouse sub-forum. It is a bit Martin focused, but lots of other makes are discussed as well.

Cheers,
Chris

Thanks for the link.  I didn't know it existed.  I'll just go visit now and then.  Well, you've got a really nice little Soprano there.  Enjoy it! :)

I will! Thanks!

It is actually the first Martin uke I've ever played. I've played a bunch of copies (I own two Kiwayas), but it definitely has something that they don't. A certain directness in the high end that the copies don't have. I am really bonding with it!

Cheers,
Chris
