Violin stands will work for ukuleles, which are usually too small for stands made for guitars and larger body instruments.  Here's one that sells for $33:

I use the Ingles SA-20 violin stand for my ukulele. It's similar in looks to the model above and is available at multiple locations online for between $22 and $35.

The padding for the base of the ukulele is good and non-scratching--and it feels very solid and stands up easily. It's also a breeze to quickly and safely place my soprano ukulele on the stand (as opposed to some stands I've tried where you have to jiggle and position the ukulele just right).

I found that I can use a cheap guitar stand -- typically in the $10-15 range.  You do have to cut off some of the upper shaft to match the neck length of the uke.

Or the A frame design works great too.  No modification needed.  Frequently used by mandolin and banjo players too.  I've seen them in the $10-15 range too (which is the price range I paid for one)

Here are some different types.

The Guitar Center has a variety too.  You might have one of these stores in your neighborhood.
