1111 is a minor seventh chord, so those tabs can't be right. I don't have the album around (the Weird Al version is probably in my mp3 bank somwhere...), so I don't know the key, but the proper progression goes more like this: 4232 or 0235 (to get the 3rd out of there) 5433 3211 8766 or 3336 Yes, the UOGB version is cool. I'll have to look at the YouTube version to see what key they're in! I always liked that song, and the irony of how popular it became considering its inherent disdain toward its audience.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLQ2eh5LfZY It's in this key, and they do some weird chords. I don't think I go them right, but I think I got real close. I'd have to play around with it for more than two minutes to copy it exactly. Not that some of those guys may be playing in different tunings, and that uke chords are hard to see because of the instrument size... and it's a dirty copy of the video. They are suspending the chords (getting the third out of there) in order to replicate the power chord sound. 5785 2234 0033 or to keep the suspended theme, 0013 5558 or regular F 2010 or 5568 to keep the suspended theme. I think that they should be changed to 111X, 666X, 444X and 10 10 10 X. Changing them from 6th chords to major chords, i.e. 1111(Db6) to 111X(Db), etc. I think what John says about using a 1-5-1(That's root, fifth and octave) power chord would sound better for this song, but the chords that I showed you will work on uke. Sorry! I gave my previous reply without listening to the song . Those major chords won't sound right. Try this: 2200, 2255, 0033, 5588 Asus D5 C5 F5 (the 5 chords have no 3rd and Csus 0533 could work for the C5) Last edited on Tue Jan 16th, 2007 09:48 pm by Dave C. |

Hey guys, Thanks for sharing that link. It was great. I'm tinkerin around with the info, and for some reason I don't think I've got it sounding right with any of these chords. From the first post I need to tune to a low G? Is that for all the alternates as well? When I tune to the low G it seems to ring an awful lot. Sorry for the noob questons. Thanks tho. EDIT: After more tinkerin it sounds ok with the 111x 666x 444x 10 10 10 x Think I'm still missin something Last edited on Tue Jan 16th, 2007 01:48 am by Crookshankz |

It's the general progression, but they definitely have some unusual sounding chords to get rid of that third, and to replicate the "power chord" sound, like Dave C. has figured. I still think they are not all playing the same thing, and that there are some jazz sounds in there. Last edited on Wed Jan 17th, 2007 09:43 pm by UkeForever |
