I'm very much a beginner, but I want to take good care of my new favorite possession.  I travel on public transportation and walk alot as a student, and practice in many different locations.   I'm looking for a case or bag that isn't just a handle carry.  I'd prefer something that I could perhaps carry around as a backpack style with room for some tab sheets and maybe a notebook and perhaps room for some cargo. (i.e. water bottle, etc.)  I may be asking for something that doesn't exist, but I figure here is a decent place to start.  Any suggestions would be very much welcome.  I'd rather spend under 35$ if I can help it, but if you think it merits the price, I'd be willing to spend more.  I've had my uke less than a week and I can tell that I'll be playing forever, it's the only instrument I've ever picked up and played for hours until I literally physically couldn't practice anymore.

Edit: I'd really like it to be able to handle at least a little bit of rain should the occasion arise.

A soprano ukulele is a tiny instrument, and gig bags ($15-20) that have accessory pockets and backstraps are not big enough to accomodate a water bottle.  At most, you'd be able to hold a chromatic tuner, and maybe a pocket sized ukulele chord pamplet.

If you travel a lot, and your uke needs better protection, there are nylon-covered hard styrofoam (similar to what bike helmets are made out of) cases (about $30) that have backpack straps, but the accessory pocket is no larger than on the gig bags:

That second one is more along the lines of what I'm looking for as it's hands free. Thanks :)

I have a tenor uke so it's really hard to find cases for them in my area. I found a Mandolin bag That works really well. It's a smokey mountain braind or something but it has a few pockets. really mostly for picks and tuners and things again but it does have three or four different carrry options including bookbacg.

About 5 years ago, I bought a Superior brand mandolin gig bag that fit my tenor uke, priced at about $25.  If you have a uke that is small than a tenor, however, the bag is too large, and a concert or soprano uke will flop around inside of it:

Do you think measurements would help?

Measurements are more critical for hard cases than for gig bags.  An unusual instrument body shape may render a hard case useless, whereas a gig bag can expand and accomodate shape differences.
