Well as often happens, Things got a little nuts but I am back...  I know who cares....

Just got back from Maui with a new attitude and Uke, stopped in at the Mele store and picked up a gorgeous Koa Concert 6 string.  The thing just sings....

Just curious to hear what other people know and think about Mele and also another site called the Ukuleleunderground?

Mahalo!

Ross:

Welcome back.  I lurk at both sites and bug the experts for ideas in both locations.;  Each serves a different purpose -- the sites, that is.

I'd be interested in hearing the 6-string.  There's an 8 string on C-list near me, but the Chief Financial Officer says no.

I picked up the 6 string because of the way it sang.  It's also tuned with a Low G and paired the A's instead of the High G and Low and High A.  I tried it both ways and loved the Low G tuning.

We picked it up on Maui last month and it was a tough call the CFO had some influence on the decision.  At Mele it was betweent the Concert 6 string in the picture and Tenor 6 string.  We were also looking at some 8 string Tenors from Pono, but I lust loved the sound of the Mele....

Maybe after I learn to play better and I figure out how to record I can put something together and post it....

Mele is certainly a very nice ukulele. I spend a month in Maui every summer and always stop into their store. They seem to always have some great players in the store using their ukes. Will be back there next Month and hope to pick up something, Mele-Maui Music-or Kamaka, not sure yet.

Outside of EZFolk I find UU and UkeHunt among the best. As mentioned they each have a different focus.
