Hi all

I'm just learning and a video I saw say to play a D using your thumb to cover the strings, but that doesn't sound right.  What's the best way to play a D on a C-tuned ukulele.

Thanks

There are a lot of different ways to play a D chord. You can find 12 variations on this page...

Unless I need to play one of the other variations for some reason I usually go with the second one listed: bar the 2nd fret with the index finger and hold the 1st string 5th fret with the little finger --> 2225.

Since I am often going to D from the A or G, I usually play it with three fingers. If I can get away with using a bar I prefer it, but that hardly ever seems to be the case.  Using the thumb seems entirely possible, but gets my hand so out of position I don't think I will be practicing it.
