Hi all, I just ordered my first tenor I got a pono pkt-2, I wanted a Kamaka but the one I wanted would have to be custom and there not taking custom orders, to bad. I have a soprano and a concert with standard tunning. As I am just learning the ukulele and this is my first tenor I don't know how I should tune it, low g or high g. I Have not received my pono yet but I think it is tuned to low g with the 3rd and 4th strings wrapped. Should I stay with this setup. Are change it. I know everyone says its personal preference. But as I am new to the uke I don't have one. Thanks for any help you can give. David

Low-G works better on tenor ukes than smaller sized ones because the larger body resonates at a lower frequency. I prefer playing chord melody to just strumming chords, and I hate not having the low notes available.

Guess I will put my 2cents worth in, my first tenor was a Pono with low-G. When I got it I quickly changed the strings to re-entrant. Then after a while went back to low-G just to see what it was like. My advice would be to stay with the low-G set up for a while to see what you think. If you are really ambitious, perhaps record yourself with the low-G. When you finally go to re-entrant you can compare. Funny thing, I think I am getting the urge to go low-G again.
