I have a beginner's question, though I've actually played electric bass and guitar for about 14 years. I've recently bought a ukulele, and am really having a hard time singing along. Either my strumming matches the vocal melody, or vice versa. I'm sure it's just a question of practice, but if anybody has any specific tips I'll reward with spices and silks, the likes of which the Queen of Sheba herself would be proud to own. (Not really, but I'd be grateful)

A suggestion: If you have a tape recorder, tape yourself struming the chords in 4/4 time while singing the song in your mind, not out loud. Practice this way and then try singing to the recording. This should help you get the rythm of the song in your head. After awhile, you should be able to sing and strum a the same time. It's just a matter of practice.

That's a great suggestion, Preston. Also, he could try just humming the songs while strumming. (I only said that so I could get some spices and silks.)
