Hi to all! I consider myself a beginner, but I discovered a thing on my way of playing. I play strumming only with my index finger, angled at 90 degrees, i.e. pointing at my chest while the other fingers are forming a loose fist. I keep my nails very short trimmed. Only the tip of my index finger touches the strings. As a result, I have a very clean sound in both directions, up and down, with no "nail" sound. I hope that this could be of some usage for somebody. Am I discovering the "Hot water" again? All the best from the green island, and keep on strumming!

Tani,

That's a very popular way to strum. That's how I play too :)

Hi Julie, well, as I was saying, "Hot Water" again! I didn't know it was a popular way of playing, but I'm glad  I'm not doing something unusual.

Thank you. All the Best!

Tani

There's  nothing wrong with being unusual. Variety is the spice of life :)
