I get the impression on this Forum that the best strings for the Soprano, Concert, and Tenor Ukes tuned GCEA are either the Worth or Aquilla strings.  What about D'Addario strings...pros and cons.  They're the only ones my nearby music store has.  Thanks for any insight you can give me.

d'Addario uke strings are made of conventional nylon, whereas the other brands are made of polymers denser than nylon.   Worth strings are made of fluorocarbon, and Aquila Nylgut is made of a propriety "synthetic gut" polymer.   String tone is subjective, all 3 brands have their fans and supporters.   I prefer Aquila Nylgut, because I think they sound better than nylon; I haven't tried nor heard Worth strings yet.

Jake Shimabukuro uses d'Addarios.

I tried a set of D'Addario J71's a while ago on my Pono cedar top tenor because, you know, I wanted to be like Jake.:P  The J71 set is supposed to be the exact set Jake uses.  It is actually individual strings from various D'Addario "Pro Arte" classical guitar sets.  If I recall correctly, the strings sounded kind of plinky and metallic on my Pono.  I think it was decent but I switched strings shortly after.  I still got a couple of packs of it and will probably put it back on again sometime to see how it sounds to me now.

Thank you for your opinions, and for explaining what the strings are made of.  It really does seem to me that although guitarists see no problem with the D'Addario strings, ukulele players around here like the Worth and Aquilla Nylgut strings better.

I called around today and the only music store that's got the Aquillas is pretty far away.  And they don't carry Worths, so I'll probably get a set online just to try out.
