Does anyone have any firsthand experience playing Pete Howlett Ukes?  The audio's I hear are really good.

hi  i own and play every day two of pete's ukulele`s one concert and one tenor put simply... they are both fantastic !!! both have a beautiful tone and perfect intonation and built with such care and understanding of his craft resulting in truly beautiful and great sounding instruments ,i also own a martin and kamaka both nice but no contest in my opinion

my advise if you can get a howlett  ...GET ONE!

Thanks for the response.  I was beginning to think nobody knew what it was.  I'll think on that.  These decisions aren't easy.  You're not Pete Howlett, are you? Thanks again.

Pete Howlett's ukes are luthier hand built ukes, so I would assume that they are of higher quality than the production ukes.  Here's a Pete Howlett interview on Uketalk.  The other luthiers interviewed by Uketalk are the likes of Dave Means (Glyph), Dave Talsma, and Rick Turner (Compass Rose), so that's pretty lofty company.  I'd expect a Howlett uke to be pretty great.

It's good to get these opinions.  Sometimes I get frustrated in even wanting to know. It still comes down to buying Ukes sight unseen, so to speak.  But on the other hand, if one does have to "order" one, it's good to know which ones have a good reputation.  This one will be added to my list of good ones.  Thanks for helping me through my frustrations. :)
