Ok, so I have decided I want one of these ukes, but I'm not sure which one to get!

It's not like I can get to a store to try one out...  I live in the UK and they are not readily available.

So...  any recommendations?

I've narrowed it down to a Tiki concert with rosewood fingerboard.  Fluke or Flea????

Fleas seem to be a little bit easier to hold in my experience.  Also, I've seen more comments favoring the tone of the Flea versus the Fluke.  I've owned a Tiki Flea and tried some Flukes in stores and I don't recall much difference between them myself.  I would say the Flea is probably the better bet though.  Of course, if you like the looks of the Fluke better, it's still a very good uke.  Either way, you should end up with a great uke.

You can't go wrong.  Get the concert Flea, then get a tenor Fluke in a couple of months :D

Either one is fine.  I have both.  I would buy a rosewood fretboard because it's hard to see the plastic frets and upgrade to Aquilas if you like a louder uke.  The black Hilos are okay.   Both ukes have a consistent sound and intonation.

Guess I'll chime in to support the rosewood fretboard. I have a Flea and am very happy with it, except for the mild frustration over not being able to see the frets. I suppose if one only played the Flea your fingers would always find the proper fret. But changing between tenor and concert cause a problem. Too bad they haven't found a way to color the plastic frets.

Artcrocker is absolutely correct.   And if you install Aquilas...it's even harder to see the frets.   There is an uke player named Bobby Tomei and he took a Fluke and modified the frets and inserted inlays.   I'm not that brave to change the uke.

Thanks for the recommendations :D

Appreciate it!  I will definately go for the rosewood fingerboard.

You're very welcome.  Let us know by writing a review of the uke.    BTW...I like your banjo!

Yeah, I'll do that.  I have decided I would like to get a walnut neck on a Tiki concert flea, so I am waiting to hear about that.

Do you use a strap with your ukulele?

My banjo is made by Chuck Lee in Texas.  Great sounding and looking banjo!  I am very pleased with it!  Thanks for your compliment.

I don't use a strap for the Flea or Fluke.   There is a strap made for the ukes, but it's kind of weird...looks like a temporary strap...and it hooks to the soundbox's hole.  I've seen one person, and that's Uncle Bobby Tomei.   He has a mandolin strap attached to his Fluke.

I do use a guitar strap for my G-String tenor.  And my wife uses a strap for her G-String concert.   It's easier to play with a strap.   We belong to a Hawaiian uke club and it's easier when playing the vamps.  Although, we do play other types of music too.

The banjo looks customized.  I could be wrong, but the shell looks larger than a normal banjo.   Very cool.   Have you ever tried a banjo-uke?  It's so loud and crisp.  There is an uke teacher in California called John Scanlon and he plays one.  He teaches class with the uke.

The Tiki concert flea looks great.  I have a pineapple flea and my wife has a hibiscus fluke.  I saw a surf fluke and that uke is definitely eye candy.

Yeah,  that's the strap I am talking about.  The one made for the ukulele.  I am usually sitting down playing the ukulele, but I play all of my other instruments with straps, so wondered about a strap for a uke when you're standing up.

The banjo has a 12" pot rather than the normal 11".  It sounds more bass-y than my other banjos.  It also has no tone ring.  Most banjos have a metal tone ring which gives them a ringing tone.  This banjo is good for more of the old time music.  I have some tunes I have uploaded on here under the artists' pages.  Some of them have been played with this banjo.

I have a banjo uke made here in the UK.  (and yes it has a strap)  I find it choppier sounding and louder than the ukulele.  Some tunes I play on it don't really fit with the sound of the banjo uke.  I am currently learning My Old Kentucky Home from the clawhammer tab on the ez folk site and it sounds much better on the ukulele than on the banjo ukulele.  I think it's better played as an accompaniment instrument than a lead instrument.

I was debating between the Tiki flea and the Surf fluke.. both look great.  And because I couldn't make up my mind, came on here to ask! :)

Nice!  I too came here to ask questions and thanks to all the great advice, yesterday, I called Flea Market Music store and placed my order for the Tenor Surf Fluke!  They make each one to order, so as we speak some craftsman is making my Surf Fluke.

I am very excited to think in just over a week or so I'll be holding my first real instrument in my hands.  (I am currently learning to play the uke on a $30 Lanikai HU-212.  It's ok, but I'm sure it isn't even in the same league as the Fluke. :)

Until I get it all I can do is look at this picture I got from the website.  sigh.....

Nice Video!  It looks like he added something to the Surf, the black areas on both sides of the neck where it meets the body, some kind of pick guard?  I left a comment asking him. :)

Cool video.  And fluke!  Is that a tenor fluke?

Why did you decide on tenor?

The one in the video and the one in the above picture are the surf concert I believe.

The reason I am getting a tenor is that I'm a big guy with big hands and I need all the room I can get for my big fingers. :)

Ah.  That makes sense!

I have tried a soprano ukulele and am not that fond of them, but like the concert.  I have just changed the strings on hubby's baritone (he's left handed) for right handed playing and quite like it.  Easier than guitar :-)
