Hi all, I know it's a bizarre question! I just finished an arrangement (instrumental) of this song and I would like to play it with something else. I prefer a song or a tune with a relationship with this, any ideas? This song talks about Feagh MacHugh O'Byrne and the battle of Glenmalure but I don't find anything in O'Neill...something like: 'The battle of Glenmalure', 'Lamentation of O'Byrne', and so on. I play it in Am, like a march so, at least, an option could be to play a new section like a jig. Ok, don't laught!!! Thanks in advance. Cheers. AB

Some info on Feagh, O'Byrne http://www.encyclopedia.com/doc/1O245-OByrneFeaghMacHugh.html http://www.wtv-zone.com/phyrst/audio/nfld/03/follow.htm And the lyrics and tune for others to hear and offer some suggestions. Without the tune, it's hard to imagine something to fit your question. Glenmalure, is the spelling and the site of the battle during the 9 years of war. If it doesn't have to be Scotish, try this: http://www.ireland-information.com/irishmusic/roddymccorley.shtml

Hi Dusty, Carlow is in Ireland, you weren't far! Roddy is about the 1798 Rebellion and Glenmalore happened in 1580, BTW it's great ballad and I could try to arrange it with another '98 song (maybe Rising of the Moon). Thanks for the suggestion, you remember me that I have a beautiful version in a Makem Brothers cd. Cheers. AB

Great! Very interesting resource for everyone that like Celtic music...ehi there is also a Child ballads section. I like to know the story behind songs and tunes...I suppose my guitar will sleep for a couple of days! Thanks again, Dusty. AB
