It does... now that you mention it... the concertina player suggested it.

I do have one problem with the piece. It gets into a groove and is hard to end. And since the piece is not very dynamic (more melodic), it can seem to go on too long.

Hmmm.... I wonder is a medley is in order?

Hey Phil,

I like it as a stand alone tune as I like all waltzes but that alone wouldn't preclude a waltz set including "Si Bheag Si Mhor".  In addition to the Concertina I've heard great renditions played on the Uilleann Pipes, Flute, the Whistle, Low included, and of course the Fiddle.

Whistles ALWAYS go well with these tunes. I've heard that the whistle was the original instrument and the fiddle is a relatively newcomer to Irish traditional music. But the tune's beauty comes in NOT trying to more it more complex. It will take a disciplined whistle, flute, concertina, pipes and in my case, banjo player to leave the piece alone.
