I hope I'm doing this right! I've searched the database for these songs and am UTL so I'm hoping other members might have guitar tabs for these songs. Thanks in advance for any help. These are old songs played by a fiddle group. Huckleberry Rag, Me & My Fiddle, Maple Sugar, Old Gray Bonnet, South, Ragtime Annie, Waltzing Matilda, Endearing Young Charms. Jim

Hi Jim, I don't think there's guitar tab for any of the ones on your list on ezFolk. Most (if not all) of them are public domain and you might be able to find some different tablatures for them individually. Just do a Google search for each song and put the name in quotes, such as: "ragtime annie" tab or "ragtime annie" tablature or "ratime annie" guitar tab You'll probably find some that way.

OOPS! I misspoke in my earlier post when asking for TAB. What I really meant was CHORDS. Richard I got your email--thanks! Not much luck out there. Does anyone have guitar chords for the songs I mentioned? Thanks!

When I typed the following into google: "waltzing matilda" chords I got info on about 3,030 hits. The first one had three different sets of chords: http://www.anu.edu/people/Roger.Clarke/WM/WMChords.html Although, I believe that "Waltzing Matilda" might still be under copyright. It was written by the Australian poet/writer Banjo Paterson. There was a nice article in National Geographic a few years back about him.

According to Wikipedia Waltzing Matilda was published in 1903, so if that's right it's in the public domain now. I mention that because I think there are a few recordings of it on ezFolk. Here's what Wikipedia has to say... "Waltzing Matilda" is Australia's most widely known folk song, and has been referred to as 'the unofficial national anthem of Australia'. The song narrates the story of an itinerant worker making a drink of tea at a bush camp and stealing a sheep to eat. When the sheep's owner arrives with three police officers to arrest the worker, he drowns himself in a small watering hole and goes on to haunt the site. The original lyrics were written in 1895 by the poet and nationalist Banjo Paterson, and it was first published as sheet music in 1903. Extensive folklore surrounds the song and the process of its creation, to the extent that the song has its own museum, the Waltzing Matilda Centre in Winton, Queensland. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waltzing_Matilda

I've copied down the titles that you're after and will try to figure those I know. I've heard Huckleberry Hornpipe, but not Huckleberry Rag. Every slash replesents a measure. In the /C G/ measure, C gets 2 beats and G gets one. Here's Endearing Young Charms: C / /F /Dm /C /F /C / / / /F /Dm /Am /G /C / / / /F / /C G/C / / / / /F /Dm /C /G /C / /

Maple Sugar - Ward Allen [:A / / / /E / /A / :] {:E / / / /B / /E / :] This is how we play it and, I believe, how Ward Allen wrote it. I've played in some jams where the fiddlers will play the B part in D, a more comfortable key for fiddlers. Our fiddler, Zeke Mazurek, who has a tendency to make a long story even longer than it already is, introduces Maple Sugar like this: This tune was written by Ward Allen. He was a fiddler/ composer born near London, Ontario who began fiddling at the age of twelve. After working as a harvester in Manitoba and as a logger in British Columbia, he returned in the late 1940s to western Ontario, where he was heard on the CKNX Barn Dance from Wingham. He won several competitions at this time, including the open class of the Canadian Open Old Time Fiddlers' Contest. He toured Canada with Wilf Carter in the 50s. His recording of Maple Sugar was a hit in Canada and the USA. Allen was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame, Nashville, Tenn, in 1965. Ward Allen died in Hull Quebec in 1965...We've done that. Old Gray Bonnett (Are you thinking of the song that goes,"Put on your old gray bonnett with the blue ribonns on it and we'll hitch old Bessy..." Since songs are often played in the key that's comfortable to the singer, I've used Roman numerals for chords: [I / /IV / /I / /V / / I / /IV /I / / /V /I] Same for Waltzing Matilda which, I just noticed for the first time, is not a waltz: [I /IV /I /I V/I V/I IV/I /V I] I got the chords for Ragtime Annie from Richard Leiberson's Old Time Fiddle Tunes For Guitar, so you may have to capo II to play this with a fiddle, I'm not sure. [:C / / /G7 / / / /C / / / / /G7 / / / /C :] [:C / / /F /G7 / / /C / / / /C7 /F /G7 / / /C :] an alternate last four bars: /F /C /G7 /C :] Hope this helps. The guitar tabs has to be learnt with lot of care and they need lots og good practise and also dedication. Once you get good grip over the tabs then you can tune any kind of tune. These are the most important part that has to be dealt with care. For more details: totallyguitars.com
