I'm not familiar with that one. I saw the lyrics to a song by Little Jimmie Dickens called "Butter Beans." ... Is that it??

If you can post part of it on here as an MP3 maybe we can help you figure out how to play it.

Thanks for getting back.

Not sure I have an mp3 of it. Papa Joe Smiddy just released a cd by this name with the song on it. I'll try to find it.

Words are:

Just a bowl of butterbeans (butterbeans, butterbeans)
Pass the cornbread if you please (if you please, if you please)
I don't want no collard greens (collard greens, collard greens)
Just a bowl of them good old butterbeans (butterbeans,     butterbeans)

See that lady over there (over there, over there)
With the curlers in her hair (in her hair, in her hair)
She's not pregnant as she seems (as she seems, as she seems)
She's just full of them good old butterbeans (butterbeans, butterbeans)

Hi,

I was searching for the lyrics to this song because I could remember the tune but not all the words. Anyway, I came across this post and wanted to share..

The version of this song that I know is done to the tune of "Just A Closer Walk With Thee".

Hope that helps, if it is the right one that is. :P

That's the tune I've learned for it. The chord progression is, by line,

- C G7
G7 C
C C7 F Fm
Fm C G7 C

where I show the chord lingering about two syllables into the next line of lyrics. If you know the melody, you'll 'hear' the changes.
