Thanks for posting that.  I'm a self-taught guitar player that has inherited a banjo.  My two year old daughter LOVES the sound and I'm looking forward to learning how to play it. What songs would you recommend I start with?

I would start with a good method for clawhammer (sorry, I don't do BG). Probably look at Dan Levenson's "Clawhammer Banjo From Scratch."

It starts you out in C/D tuning, where most OT fiddle tunes are played, and is a great intro to Clawhammer banjo and OT music.

But, that's just my opinion, and I've worked with a lot of Dan's stuff and even played with him a time or two.

Thank you.  This is the easiest tab for my wife to learn.  She is a beginner.

Mystik -

Actually, the whole song is just a repeat of what I put up. And, what is there is only an outline of how I worked it up, not anything really near the copyrighted tune.

If you are looking for a banjo rendition, you might try the tab section of The Banjo Hangout, I believe there might be a version or two there, but maybe not, because of the copyright issue. I do know that if you ask in the "tab request" forum, there are versions available.

I HAVE FOUND MANY TAB VERSIONS OF THIS SONG ONLINE BUT NONE ARE AS EASY TO PLAY AS THIS ONE. I AM CURIOUS AS TO WHETHER YOU HAVE THE REST OF THE SONG TABBED OR IF YOU CAN TELL ME WHERE TO FIND IT.
THANK YOU SO MUCH,
MATTHEW

Strummin' Simon asked if this tab could be played on the uke.  A few changes would have to be made:  I hope I'm right here. I don't have a banjo nor a uke close by, but I think if you drop the fifth string from the tab and substitute this line:
  |          |       |          |         |          |         |         |
|----------------0-------2------|3-------5-------3-------2----|
|3---3---3---------------------|--------------------------------|
|--------------------------------|--------------------------------|
|--------------------------------|--------------------------------|

for the third line that uses the first string, then use
0003 in place of 0000 and 2010 for 2012 in the chord line, you'll have a tab that works on the uke. It transposes to the key of C, instead of G (unless you're playing a baritone uke).
I haven't actually tried playing this, so please correct me if I'm wrong.

matthew -

no i don't have the rest of the tune. i tabbed it out only because there were so many requests here for it - i don't play it for more than a few seconds at a time.

the missing part is often just fast strumming or rolls through the three chord changes or improvisations of other tunes.

and the tab is written for clawhammer banjo, not bluegrass.

sorry i can't help you, but you might try the tabs on banjohangout, i'm not sure but there may be a tab or two there.
