Hi Everyone,

I recently got a classic guitar from my mother-in-law, it was one they found in an old warehouse and bought for $40; I am desperate to find out more about the Guitar  (age, woods used, general worth etc.) and the Luthier who made it.

The guitar is a Juan De La Mancha, Granada model made in Spain.

There is nothing flashy about  this particular guitar and it looks pretty plain (and old) but this guitar sings like an Opera queen and sustains notes longer than an elephants memory, I love playing it so much that I have now put my Ovation in its case behind a door where it will most probably collect dust for centuries to come :).

If anyone can give me some info on the guitar or a means to contact the Luthier (pref e-mail) I would truly be in your debt!

Thanks all
RV

Juan De La Mancha is a known brand in Spain.  Here is a link to an old add offering one for sale.

Unfortunately the photos no longer exist.

The La Mancha region is well known for the manufacture of handcrafted guitars.  Juan De La Mancha, is just "Juan from La Mancha".

I am sure, however, that the use of the full phrase is specific, as the add above seems to indicate.

There is now a "Seranata" model by Juan de la Mancha on EBay with pics. ASking price a bit optimistic at £399! I saw another on sale in Canada at 400Can$. There are pics on the Ebay ad.
