Hello , I am chasing for an OM or 000 size acoustic guitar that meanwhile smaller body good sound and  good bass. I had a dreadnought Simon & Patrick but I suffer from the back and a smaller body is more confortable . Looking in the below 1500 $ category . Any advice . So far I have tried  Guild GAD 30 and a Martin XC1T Ellipse and they are quite good , anyone having been thru that process may have another advice ? Thanks

The Guild GAD-30R (solid spruce and rosewood model) is an excellent OM-size guitar.  There is a review of one posted at this forum (look under the guitar forum).  I own a Guild GAD-G212 twelve-string, and it's one of my best-ever guitars.

Another 000 model that I own and can recommend if the Blueridge BR-73.   Blueridge guitars are an excellent value.  If you want all solid wood, get the 200 series, BR-263.

The Blueridge BR-73 has a surprisingly good bass response for a 000-size body guitar.   I don't own the Guild GAD-30R, but the only one I played at Sam Ash had very old strings (badly corroded), so I'm sure it did not sound its best under those conditions.  For those reasons, I can't make a fair comparison.   I do own a Guild dreadnought 12-string (GAD-G212) from the same GAD series, and it has great bass response with a mahogany body (no rosewood model is available in that style).

Here are several reviews of the Guild GAD-30R:

Both guitars are  made in China and sold at a similar in price (around $700-750 with a nice hard case included) - if I were to recommend a choice, I'd go with the Guild GAD-30R because it is all solid wood (rosewood back and sides also), while the Blueridge has laminated rosewood back and sides.

A more affordable alternative might be the Silver Creek line of solid wood 000/OM guitars is made in China and sold through Music123 and Musician's Friend.

The Silver Creek T-170 is an OM/000 sized guitar with a wider 1-3/4" nut width, with solid spruce top and solid rosewood back and sides and sells for $299.

The T-160 is a similar guitar with solid mahogany back and sides, selling for $249.

There are also solid wood dreadnought versions of the Silver Creek guitars, similarly priced:

I know I'm resurrecting this thread, but I thought I'd comment just in case folks think the only OM option is the Guild GAD.

For an under-$1500 OM, I don't think the Larrivee OM-03R can be beat. It's got anwesome sound, response, playability, etc. Street is about $800 and I've seen them go for less on eBay.

You may be able to find an OM-09 (gloss version) at $1500 or under, if someone is selling theirs.

For a bassier OM, you want Rosewood back and sides. For the best OMs, I am really digging SCGC (Santa Cruz Guitars) "prewar" OMs, and Martin's OM-28V. Their vintage reissues really are built to the lightness of the vintage instruments. They sound huge. Of course, the price tag on those can get into the $3K range.

oK thanks for your note. Larrivee are difficult to find here in France. At present I am finally using a Martin XC1T , it is  000 size even with a cutaway as it is suppose to be an electroacoustic. I got mine 2nd hand without the Fishman and use it acoustic ony and have to say that I am really impressed by the sound and the bass I get out of this small body. The top is spruce and after 2 months really opened up creating a big sound. Back & Side are Martin HPL ( a kind of laminated ) but it really sound great and Martin like and the playability is awesome with very low action. rgds
