I'm looking to get a Pipa, and I want to make sure it is all solid wood. But I can't find any example, even in the quadruple digits price range that claim solid wood. There are a few that say they are made of full block rosewood, like this one http://www.shoppingchinanow.com/virt...pipa-p009.html Does anyone know if it's the same thing, just a different way of saying it?

The instrument top is made from pawlonia, a lightweight, straight-grained, wood grown in China. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paulownia According to above URL, pawlonia has been used for high-end guitars: "... More recently, it [pawlonia] is used as body material for high end custom guitars . The appearance , resonance and light weight make it a highly sought after tone wood for guitar makers." That doesn't guarantee that the instrument in question is solid pawlonia, but it seems likely (at that price, $347).
