QUESTION: would a PIANO accordian be appropriate for CAJUN music? somehow I'd gotten the impression only the "button" accordians were geared for Cajun music. I know nothing about accordians, looking for something for occasional use only at this point. So many instruments, so little time.......

alas nope, for reasons as dynamics, type of tuning, reachable range of notes .... f.i octaving of melody notes is very important in cajun style playing, you simply can't do that on a britches-piano ........ regs Last edited on Thu Jan 3rd, 2008 08:45 pm by fiddler2007 |

He is right about that if you want true cajun music, I have a button accordion and play alot of music on it, But I think you have to have cajun music borned in you and raised up around it all your life to get the true sound, I love it and wish I could have learned it when I was young. I have heard some play it on other styles of accordions, But not the true sound. Charlie
