I don't know - $50 for an Ocarina?

I think they are great instruments, we used them in Grammar school during music class (communal ocarina's, can you imagine that in this day & age?), and they are truely a 'folk' instrument, but $50 just because of the provinance of Zelda?

A good one, I think, should be available in the $5 to $10 range. I wouldn't pay much more than that, personally.

Brad

EDIT: I just googled "ocarina" from ezFolk home page and found this link:

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Grover-Sweet-Potato-Diatonic-Ocarina?sku=460024&src=00630

Much better price, I think!

I own that exact one and it just sounds meh. I am actually looking for a better one that has a good range and that can play multiple things.

There's not really a lot you can do with the musical potato - it is limited in range. I suppose you could search the web for ocarinas and do some research, but they are not a real complicated instrument.

Good luck!

Brad

according to the site it has an octave and a 4th range, which is decent I think. It also has a great sound that those simple plastic ones cannot make. Do you know of anyother good Ocarina's?

Yep. Get on down to Pike Place Market and visit my friends at Clayzeness Whistleworks (on the day tables... also at http://www.clayz.com.

They even make a Zelda one but I'm pretty sure it's around $50 as well.

I remember there was a sight that had good ones but I can't seem to find them. The ocarina's made always had the company's signature leaf vine design on them.

My husband makes ocarinas, but he's not selling them at the moment. When he was looking for good ocarinas, I bought him two from this site:

http://hindocarina.com/

The sound of these instruments are exquisite, and they make you realize how much you really can do with an ocarina, in the right hands.

Best of luck -
Amy DK
