Any comments on a brand of accordian (chromatic/keyboard) I saw in antique store VERY good condition for about $125 I think it's "Moreschi?" Didn't have time to check model number. I've been looking for a VERY LIGHTWEIGHT aprox 10 lbs max bargain cajun style accordian. Though this "Moreschi" (I think that's the brand) not diatonic/ cajun , wondering if I should consider it or not. Know piano, so the keyboard looks pretty easy/familiar to moi. Comes with case/books and very good condition though I know ZIP about accordians. It was red & felt like it weighed well over 10 lbs, maybe 20 lbs. I've found some info online though no prices yet...think that older model is probably discontinued by now..it had lots of buttons. COMMENTS ? Last edited on Thu Mar 16th, 2006 12:56 am by b-uke |

B-Uke, I bought a used old accordion for a $100. a few years back and had to take it to a tuner and that was another hundred, so be careful . It may be OK If you could take your guitar tuner there and play a few notes in front of the tuner and see how close it is, that would help maybe Sounds like it would be heavy and more than your 10 lbs, I am like you, I have to play a lite one, mine weighs about 11 lbs. The cajun accordions are very light, almost to light for me, The ones I have had did not weigh over 3 or 4 pounds Good luck on your search and you will enjoy it when you do find the right one, I have bought and sold a lot of instruments the last 10 years, but I have hung on to my button accordion and would never sell it . Thanks for tips Charlie. Any specific recommendations on brand & how many button "rows" for a button/diatonic accordian ? Also, you think a "button" diatonic accordian absolutely required for cajun-type music vs a piano-keyboard accordian? Any specific suggestions I'm all ears.

Well b-uke I like the button accordions better, But that is me, most of the Cajun music is one row button in the key of C or D I have never been to good playing cajun music as I have not been able to get the beat down as they do, But I really like it. You can buy a one row or get a two or three row, I have a three row that plays in keys of G-C-F All of them are light weight and get you some good straps and you want know you have it on, They all play the same whether a one or two or three row. I can't tell you much about the chromatic pianio because I can't play one, I have tried a few , but the push-pull I learned on the button was so different. So you have to make up your own mind about it. Charlie
