Pretty cool looking Dean. Where have I seen that instrument before? It sure looks familiar. I think I may have even heard one, but i'm not sure. I  seem to remember it was very different and way cool sounding, but you know how my old man memory is, I could be just dreaming the whole thing. See ya tommorow at work.:2dead:

Tim, you are a bad influence, and you made my vacation miserable until I finally couldn't take it anymore and ordered one:) Seeya tomorrow!

BTW, I read a lot of reviews, and several were rather unfavorable...but then they were writtian by banjo players trying to venture into the reso world, and I can see how someone used to a screamin banjo wouldn't like the mellow sustaining sound of a reso guitar. The fretboard and neck is identical to my Gold Tone Banjo and I'm getting pretty good at tweeking these things...so we shall see. I purposely didn't get one with a pick-up...because I've been researching them as well. If all works out, and I like it, I may install a pick-up, and start showing up at jams with a slide in my pocket:shock::cool:...remember that peddle I got...could be time to get nasty

I got my new Dojo yesterday, and played for about 2 hours last night. First impression are that it's my perfect instrument. Dispite the negitive reviews I've read, I'm glad I got it. I'll play it for several months before doing an indepth review, but my first impressions.

Good: Better sound than I was expecting, very loud with metal fingerpics, very authentic resonator sound. Matt finish, fast neck, beautiful instrument. Killer blues sound, awesome slide player. Light, and balances perfect with a guitar strap. Great for playing kicked back on the couch as well...can play in a guitar sitting position, something I cant do with a banjo. Came from Janet Davis with perfect set-up, intonation and action. Very nice HSC with the Gold Tone logo on it, well worth the little extra to get it. Planitary tuners nice and tight and work great. Came almost in tune, the 5th string screams and the geared 5th string tuner works real good. I checked everything, and nothing loose or ratteling...all hardware nice and tight. The strings are heavier than a banjo (possibly 12's ?) but it didn't take long to get used to them, and they give it the great sound.

Bad. One small blemish on the front, looks like they touched it up with paint...big deal, I'll be adding plenty more in no time. One slight distrotion on the edge of the cover plate, doesn't lay quite flat, no big deal. Felt insulator between tail piece and coverplate...have to wonder how long it will last, and what kind of vibes I'll get when it flattens out. I was also a little dissapointed that there wasn't a strap button on the heal, all the web photos I've seen show one there. No biggy, I had one and installed it. I also get more pick noise than I do with a banjo, but can minimize it with attack angle...so this will probably improve my banjo playing.

I'm in love with this baby already. It came from Janet Davis right out of the case as a tune-and-play instrument. It was worth paying shipping. I could have gotten free shipping from MF or M123, but I've has some bad set-up issues with those places. I'm happy:)

The B-1's had a practice jam tonight, and I wailed on the Dojo. It doesn't project  all over the room like a banjo, so I was unaware of the extent of it's volume, but Tim and Tom let me know it's LOUD and CLEAR. It's sound projects more straight out, so it's louder across the room than playing it. They approve, and told me it was the best purchase I've made, and love the sound for the old time music we are working on. It's compact, and extreamly comfortable to play...it just feels right. :)
