I bought 6 Lee Oskar harmonicas about 3 months ago. I am having a problem with a reed sticking on my A key. The problem is the draw on the second hole. The website says there is sometimes a problem with this hole and suggest it is because of the way it is played. I don't think this is the problem since it worked fine until just recently.

It may, I say may, be a mechanical problem. If you can you might carefully open the body and check the reed. But first, it might just be dirt or gunk. Try running a little alcohol through the reed. Alcohol should dissolve any dirt or grease or flush it out, and should not damage any part of the instrument. If you have a syringe, use that to "flush" the reed bank. It can't hurt. If not just pour it through from the "output" to the input. In other words the reverse of the airflow when you play. By the way, the new pic looks good with the guitar. You did look a little more laid back with the casuals in your first photo. If it is a common factor as the website says, I don't know why they don't fix the damn thing, or give free replacements. If you want to get nasty, write them a note. "I will copy your own information about this problem, give it to everyone I know who is thinking about harmonicas, and tell them to NEVER buy this particular model from you." Don't be afraid to open your harp and work on it. It probably needs cleaning or a slightly wider gap on the troublesome reed. Go here, scroll down the menu on the left to maintenance, and read about how to do it. http://www.angelfire.com/tx/myquill/ dave

Small tip: use 100% isopropyl acohol in cleaning, NOT rubbing alcohol. Isopropyl alcohol is 99% pure; rubbing alcohol can have 25-30% other ingredients like menthol and eucalyptus. These will leave a residue and make your reeds stick more! And if your harps have plastic (ABS) combs (not wood), you can actually run them under warm water to dislodge anything stuck. They won't warp (I remove the covers so there's nothing that might rust like the tiny screws). My own experience is that sticking reeds or reeds that don't bend very well are often the result of the actual reed metal having flaws or being just set slightly off centre. Some seem to twist a bit when they bend. Sometimes they even have tiny burrs that cause the reed to stick, but these can be CAREFULLy cleaned off.
