I saw a pretty coll item in a magazine tonight. It was a Hohner Trumpet Call Harmonica. Apparently they were made in the early 1900s, but if anyone has any more info please post. It's a bit strange beacuase the one on Elderly is only $85 and the one in Hemmecher Schlemmer is $120 .Any insight is appreciated.

The one Elderly has is a Reissue of the 1907 model that Hohner just put out.
Good reviews.

Gee, I wonder why those never caught on.

How do they sound? Like little trumpets?

I haven't heard one, but I like the sound of octave harps.

Here are some more interesting Hohner re-issues:

It's basically a Hohner Auto-Valve harmonica, which is an octave harmonica with the same note-layout as a diatonic.  I don't know what affect the bells have on the sound, but they give it a cool "Stroh" look.

I would buy one if I had the spare cash, but it's pretty far down the list, somewhere between my Don-Mo Galvo Uke and Remo Coffee House Drum.
