I'm just so thrilled and need to tell everybody. I just bought a bow for my fiddle and started playing it for the first time in 15 years. I've been playing some mandolin and tenor banjo lately, so I figured that I would pick up violin pretty easy. It was a bit more complicated than that.

But even though I haven't got to play a lot yet, there is progression. For instance I learned that not looking at your fretting hand when playing actually helps a lot. But, man, those bowing techniques really go away when you don't practice.

Right now I'm at my worst when playing the violin, it's squeeky and off, but I'm still very excited about what once was my first musical instrument. I will practice till those false notes go away. I did buy a sordine. :-D

Good for you, hrlarson! There are never enough fiddlers.

hrlarson I know how you feel! I used to be fairly good back in the day at the violin but after 25 years of putting it down I had to rediscover the bowing technique which is the hardest part!! Holley
