The other day I went to the music store with my sister in southport that had this awesome sale on sheet music and books galore on every instrument 2 books for a buck! Well I sure feel like I made out like a bandit!!!

I bought 13 awesome books mostly on various fiddle tunes and  fiddle techniques. I got different levels of of sheet music on Bluegrass, Celtic, Irish, Jazz, Western you name it! I can' t wait to dig in and learn them all!!!

I can sight read ok but pick up by ear much better.  So I am looking for music samples MP3 or even stream to help me learn the songs faster. Some I found here on Ezfolk

Just wondering if anyone  might have any other weblink suggestions where I could download or even stream traditional and non traditional songs of the generes listed above??

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a bunch in advance!

Holley

Holley-

Go to YouTube and search for "fiddle""old time" and other such words, you'll find plenty!

I just received a CD "Marcus Martin, When I Get My New House Done" from the North Carolina Folklife Institute ( http://www.ncfolk.org ).

Here's another link to a fiddler on the Fiddle Hangout:

http://www.fiddletunes.net/index.shtml

You might like to drop by the FHO and check out the players there - lots of good tunes on their homepages there.  http://www.fiddlehangout.org

(Of course, most of my suggestions are slanting you towards the Old Time stuff, not what you have listed ;) )

Brad

Here's a great web source for old timey and Celtic fiddle tunes in MIDI format:
Hetzler's Fakebook

Also, The Earth Tones performs a lot of Irish and old timey fiddle tunes (just click on the link below my signature line)

Hey Holly,

There's a wealth of Old Time tunes here: http://www.jehile.com/

You'll have to navigate to the recorded archive but there's a ton of tunes there.  Jehile was a brilliant fiddler with a wealth of tunes in his head.  I hope this helps.

As to the Irish tunes Alan Ng's tune finder is very helpful for tracking down recorded versions.  Here's his site: http://www.irishtune.info/finder.htm

Lucky you, I know how I feel when I stumble across great buys on song books, especially those out of print or real old.

Peace,
Ed
