Keep in mind as you play this
that there are
two lines of tablature (upper and lower). The upper line contains only
the melody of the song so that you’ll know where you are while playing
it. The lower line begins with a simple accompaniment that is similar
to what I am playing on the MP3 recording beginning at the 2nd verse.
The break that follows is the same as on the MP3.
Note: The MP3 was recorded in
the key of F
using a long neck banjo that I usually capo on the 3rd fret. In this
case I capoed the 1st fret because it suited my voice better (and
because I learned the song by playing along with the recording from the
movie, “O Brother, Where Art Thou,” and it was also in F). The
computer generated MIDI files above are still in the key of G.
This MP3 was my most popular
recording on
the original MP3.com and was the #1 song in the Bluegrass genre for two
years (2001 & 2002) with over 200,000 plays.
