Biography
Hmmm... Geez... Music Lesson Delinquency... Pounding on the piano... Practicing in the 1/2 bath because it was tinny... I have no background... OK, I'll start over... When I was about three years old, I was amazed by the record player and just couldn't understand how they could possibly get the whole Glenn Miller Orchestra inside it... I suppose one of the strangest things I ever heard, and I have no idea as to whether it's as valid as rain on Mars or not, but I apparently bought an old Martin A model mandolin that belonged to the guy who played the banjo for the Kingston Trio - but what makes it strange is that I was sure the Kingston Trio was inside the record player with the Glenn Miller Orchestra - I think Harry James might have been in there, too... Well one of the neatest things that ever did happen to me, in this big old world of music, and I honestly think this did, in fact, happen was that I jammed with a guy by the name of Ry Cooder at a little dirt bar near Morrisville, NY... Now that was interesting... This happened in the 70s, so... it may not have happened... there were strange things in the air during that time. Aw heck there are so many really good musicians and songwriters out there, aren't there... I could put a list of a hundred really great artists in front of you, you couldn't place a one of them, and you could probably do the same to me... Damned shame 99% of us are destitute... I had my 15 minutes of fame, back in the 70s in that dirt bar, with Ry Cooder - but I had hours and weeks and months and years and decades of fun and learning with everybody trying to do it better. Man, there are a lot of good folks out there playing great music... I'd put 50 bucks on you being one of them...
On a closing note, I'd like to talk about my feelings toward what a copyright actually is... But, before I can ask you to do the same, ask yourself about the industry of music, in general. A copyright, to me, is a solemn piece of paper, whether it be the very first draft of something written, or the finished work of art. The thought of enjoying someone else's music and claiming it as my own would be to cheat at solitaire...
I am for the working man.
