For the Sake of the Song Podcast Episode 4

by ductapeguy, posted 04 Apr 2007 07:39 PM

I have no guest for Episode 4, just little old me and 2, count ‘em 2 brand-spanking new songs.

Last week I was deeply moved by a picture in the Toronto Star on Thursday March 29.

The picture shows the impression left when a 5 year old boy fell 9 stories from a balcony– and lived to tell the story. That very day I wrote the song, Angels (© 2007 Sean McGaughey). I hope it moves you as much as it moved me. The article and picture can be found here (from the Kitchener-Waterloo Record).

Every week the volunteers at Librivox.org choose a public domain poem to be recorded by as many volunteers as possible. This week’s poem is Beautiful Soup by Lewis Carroll from Alice in Wonderland.

Song #2 Beautiful Soup ( Written by Lewis Carroll Arranged by Sean McGaughey). I have dedicated my arrangement of Beautiful Soup to the public domain.

I have a new Podcast about songwriting.

by ductapeguy, posted 12 Mar 2007 12:30 PM

I'm pleased to announce my new podcast, For The Sake of the Song, Conversations with Song. Each episode, I will have a different guest to discuss the art and craft of songwriting, and to play a few songs. To begin, I’m planning to release episodes biweekly on the odd Thursdays.

On March 10, I played at a benefit bonspiel for the Minesing Swamp Unplugged Festival. While I was there I recorded a few episodes of my new podcast: For the Sake of the Song: Conversations with Song. I also learned podcasting hard lesson #1. A little ambient noise is OK in a live recording, but recording live shows 30 feet from the refrigeration room of a curling rink is not OK. There is a lot of hum in the recording, but it was great to talk with Steve. I had not seen him perform in over 6 years.

It can all be found at my site: http://ductapeguy.net

The Podsafe Music Network Works

After just one week on the Podsafe Music Network, I have had my Duct-Tape Song on the Life with Mungo Podcast . This could be a good avenue for my music.

I'm going to Podcamp

by ductapeguy, posted 08 Feb 2007 07:38 PM

PodCamp Toronto Feb. 24-25 is FREE!

While I'm there, I have a gig at C'est What in Toronto opening for Uncle Seth and alt-rock band Nurse.
As most of the audience are podcasters I'm sure there will be many recordings of the concert.
This could be an opportunity to expose my music to a whole new audience.

Although I've long said that all my music here is podcast safe, I set up a new account with the

Podsafe Music Network.
